Interview de Mana
C’est quelques jours avant le concert à Paris que Mana-Sama, seul, donne rendez-vous à JaME pour l’interviewer. Nous nous retrouvons dans une salle, accompagnéz d’une manager de Midi:Nette et de Jon le traducteur. Je suis le premier à passer, d’autres journalistes suivront ensuite.
Après quelques brèves présentations, l’interview débute :
Vous en êtes à votre seconde tournée en Europe, que ressentez-vous à l'approche de ces concerts ?
Mana : Contrairement au Japon, il y a beaucoup plus de garçons présents que de filles. Le "Power" y est d’autant plus puissant et j’attends avec beaucoup d’impatience de faire le concert en France.
Comment vous sentez-vous maintenant que votre mini-album Beyond the Gate vient de sortir et quels sont les premiers retours que vous avez pu avoir dessus ?
Mana : Si on prend par exemple la chanson deus ex machina, elle a été réalisée d’une manière bien différente par rapport à d’habitude dite : "numérique". Il y a eu beaucoup de réactions surprises mais qui n’étaient pas négatives, c’était plutôt un étonnement de découvrir un tel titre sur ce mini-album.
Après l’introduction The other side in blood (SE), Eternally Beyond marque une coupure assez nette avec Nocturnal Opera. Vous désiriez montrer une évolution dans le style musical de Moi dix Mois ?
[Jon et Mana échangent quelques propos sur la question]
Mana : Effectivement, cette piste en particulier peut sembler différente mais dans l’ensemble je ne pense pas avoir évolué dans ma construction musicale si ce n’est bien sûr avec le traitement numérique effectué. Par contre, Eternally Beyond reste plus original, il est vrai, que le reste mais on ne s’éloigne pas trop de mon style.
Vous vouliez mettre en avant Eternally Beyond ?
Mana : Il est vrai qu'Eternally Beyond est la chanson clé du mini-album bien qu’il n’y ait pas de message particulier à transmettre au travers de celle-ci.
Comme vous l’avez annoncé, il y a un traitement digital sur deus ex machina mais on trouve aussi des guitares plus agressives dans unmoved et Vain. Vers quoi vous portez-vous finalement pour le futur musical de Moi dix Mois ?
Mana : Pour le futur, j’aimerai faire de la musique plus "heavy" comme unmoved et vain afin de mettre en avant le son des guitares. Ensuite, pour varier mon style, j’use de musique numérique comme avec deus ex machina. A la base, je désire harmoniser mes compositions entre de la musique classique et un style plus agressif. Il n’y a pas une seule voie musicale vers laquelle Moi dix Mois se tourne.
Shadow X refait surface avec K pour la death voice, pourquoi plane-t-il toujours un mystère sur cette personne ?
Mana : Il faut savoir que Shadow X et K sont deux personnes bien différentes. Ensuite, il n’y aura pas de mise en avant ou d’annonce officielle pour présenter Shadow X. Le mystère restera présent…
Même pas une petite photo ?
Mana : [petit rire] Euh… ce n’est pas en projet !
Passons à Seth maintenant, bien des mystères pèsent à son encontre comme sa date de naissance et son groupe sanguin, pouvez-vous donc nous en dire un peu plus sur le nouveau chanteur de Moi dix Mois ?
Mana : Faut-il juste donner la date de naissance ?
En fait par exemple sur le site officiel de Moi dix Mois sa date de naissance est remplacée par des X, nous ne savons pas grand-chose à son propos.
Mana : A la base nous ne voulions rien dévoiler à son sujet, donc tout était fait exprès en ce sens. Mais maintenant, petit à petit et au fur et à mesure, nous donnerons plus d’informations à son sujet.
Et en ce qui concerne Sugiya et Hayato [NDLR : ce sont les deux membres de session pour la tournée], pouvez-vous nous parler d'eux ?
Mana : Ce sont certains de mes amis qui me les ont présentés.
Votre look sur Beyond the Gate se veut plus strict voire militaire, quelles sont les raisons qui vous ont porté sur cette évolution de style ?
Mana : Comme le nouveau mini-album se veut plus violent et agressif que les précédents albums, j’ai eu l’idée de faire un look se liant mieux à ce style.
Pouvez-vous nous décrire un peu plus la pochette de Beyond the Gate où l’on peut vous voir les mains clouées sur une croix avec des mains au sol qui s’élèvent vers votre personne ?
Mana : Tout d’abord, cela n’a rien à voir avec la religion chrétienne et n’est pas en l’honneur de Jésus Christ. C’est plus l’album dans son concept qui semblait s’adapter à mon avis à cette jaquette. Le concept de l’album est difficile pour moi à expliquer. Il faut vider, verser les idées stéréotypées que l’on a en chacun de nous dans la mer de sang [NDLR : celle que l’on peut observer sur l’image de l’album] et se réincarner, spirituellement.
Vous avez donné un concert pour votre fan club Mon†amour au Liquid Room le 11 mars, comment cela s’est-il déroulé ?
Mana :Oh… En fait comme ce concert était pour le fan club, cela s’est très bien passé et nous avons pu organiser diverses surprises sur scène. Il y a une ambiance particulière faite pour eux afin qu’ils soient d’autant plus excités et heureux de ce concert.
Y a-t-il donc eu quelque chose de particulier à l’occasion de votre anniversaire ? [NDLR : le 19 mars]
Mana : Oui, je voulais le fêter sur scène.
Quelles sont vos prochaines sorties côté DVD et CD de prévues ?
Mana : Il y aura un nouveau CD en cours d’année.
Est-ce que ce sera un album complet ou un single ?
Mana : Je ne sais pas encore sous quelle forme mais cela sortira cette année. Donc rien n’est concret mais je veux faire quelque chose.
Beaucoup de fans aimeraient voir des clips de Moi dix Mois. Est-ce à l'étude ?
Mana : Dès que possible et peut-être même cette année, j’ai l’intention de faire un clip.
Comptez-vous remettre une section où vous écrirez vos impressions comme sur l’ancienne version du site de Moi dix Mois pour vos fans internationaux qui ne savent pas lire le japonais ?
Mana : Il y a mon site personnel avec mon journal qui s’appelle Monologue Theater en japonais. Je compte le renouveler d’abord et par la suite il sera possible de lire ce journal en anglais. Petit à petit nous mettrons tout à jour en anglais.
Je crois savoir que vous n’aimez pas trop prendre l’avion, avez-vous eu encore une appréhension cette fois-ci ?
Mana : [surpris par la question] Oui, l’avion est le moyen de transport qui m’angoisse le plus !
A la Japan Expo 2004, vous avez fait part de la possibilité de produire d’autres groupes. Avez-vous trouvé des artistes ou groupes qui vous intéresseraient ?
Mana : C'est vrai mais cependant, je n’en ai toujours pas trouvé jusqu’à aujourd’hui.
Même non japonais ?
Mana : Oui bien sûr si les groupes me plaisent.
Est-ce que vous n’aimeriez pas devenir propriétaire de votre propre château en France pour y avoir votre seconde maison ? Je m’explique : nous avons pu vous voir lors de l’époque de Malice Mizer dans un château ou alors poser dernièrement dans des photobooks et à chaque fois on y retrouve un château.
